Patients with endocrine and metabolic problems as well as with diabetes mellitus are seen daily in this Unit by appointment. Special care is given to endocrine problems of women of young, reproductive and postmenopausal age. Thyroid disorders are diagnosed, treated and subsequently monitored regularly. Disorders of the menstrual cycle with special emphasis on polycystic ovary syndrome are diagnosed, studied and receive adequate therapy. Diabetes mellitus, a condition that represents an increasing nosologic entity of our society is one of the main  therapeutic targets of the Unit.

Women with endocrine problems such as gestational diabetes are diagnosed following regular population screening of pregnant women and receive support  and advice for proper treatment. Finally, older women with endocrine problems such as pathologic entities related to menopause, osteoporosis and other, or pre-existing endocrine problems are introduced with the proper therapeutic solution. Besides the already mentioned commonly met problems endocrinologists of the Unit are specialized upon a range of less common endocrine disorders such as those of the adrenal, pituitary, male and female infertility, libido and others.

Extensive experience has been acquired in the treatment of surgery-related endocrine problems including diabetes in men and women.
